Cutting The Cost Of Travel

Lastminute.com Secret Hotels Revealed

For those of us who have not heard about Lastminute.com Secret Hotels, it’s simply a way of a hotel advertising a rock bottom rate without advertising it to the whole world.

The website will give you a description and breakdown of the hotel, but won’t let you know the hotel’s name until you have booked. Risky yes, but you can pick up some really good bargains.

Lastminute are not the only people to offer this service, so its worth hunting around the net.

Having used this service a few times, I must admit i’ve only been disappointed once.

I did however discover a few little ways to finding out what the hotel is, before you have to commit to booking.

Tip 1. Look at the percentage of the discount and with some clever maths, work out what the hotel price would have been, should the discount not have been applied.

Example- Hotel is £100 per night discount was 20%  off.  We now know this hotel would have been £120.00 under normal circumstances.

What I would do from there is filter my search and find all the other hotels listed on the same website at £120.00. By checking to see if things such as the facilities, distance, stars etc match up..you will slowly find the matching hotel at full price!

Tip 2. Search descriptions on Google. Often enough the description of the hotel will be a close match to listings on other websites.  Example- It might describe the building as a “Georgian building with an outdoor swimming pool”. Put this description into Google along with the location and you might just find the hotel listed on other websites.

Tip 3.  If your looking for a London Hotel, websites such as moneysavingexpert have a huge list of secret London Hotels already published.
